The Ah-Ha Moment of a Destination Retreat

Our world today is so full. Opportunities, choices, expectations, responsibilities and commitments, and so much noise, all compete for our time and attention. You can really get overwhelmed.

I understand the feeling that you need to be in two places at once, or even three, makes priorities difficult. Some days it seems no matter who you are serving, your job, family, friends or yourself, that you are taking valuable time and energy away from something else. It causes stress, and if you are like me, you feel guilty if you can’t handle it. You don’t talk about it, you hide it, under the guise of I’m Fine.

But what is the long term cost of this? I don’t think we can afford it. We need a “time out.”

What is it worth to find the fun and adventure in your life?

Remember that delicious feeling of being completely in the moment and at ease, and living from a place of conscious intentional creation? This is what all of today’s wise women want, and strive for, but are we achieving it? The reality is we are not, and it causes us stress. This stress is multiplied by guilt, fear, being in a hurry, and having that inner self critic saying, you can do better, you can do this, or worse, what’s wrong with you?

Many women find their most productive, healthy and creative years shut down by perceived rejection. They feel invisible, unattractive, unappreciated, and have very few conversations that really share deeply inspired connection and acknowledgement of their unique gifts.

Taking some time for yourself, to rejuvenate, have fun and focus on what you want to transform, release and create, allows you to make a shift back to self-care very quickly.

Create the reality of “agelessness.”

This is why I created the Spiritual Adventures for Today’s Wise Woman. I personally believe that these time outs are what allows us to age gracefully and create the reality of “agelessness.”

Recently, I shared a Spiritual Adventure with women all at a crossroads, struggling with the release of deep stress caused by desire for a full recovery from life challenges like:

  • Recovering from 3 years of illnesses, transitioning to a new way to self-care
  • Recovering from loss of a spouse, transitioning to allowing a new love
  • Recovering from an abusive marriage, transitioning to forgiveness and release of anger
  • Recovering from weight loss surgery, transitioning to a positive self-image
  • Recovering from years of caregiving to a parent, transitioning to peaceful acceptance

All of these women arrived at the remote luxurious location deeply in the I’m Fine state of mind. And they were fine. They were productive, health conscious, practical, loving and compassionate women. But they had deep desires that they had put on hold for too long.

At the end of the retreat, everyone said the same things. The class structure, the activities and the stunning accommodations got their attention, and called them to be there. But, the most important element to achieving their goals was the deep level of the communication and the experience of healing themselves as they healed others in the group.

The ah-ha moment of a destination retreat is that our personal struggle of growth and the awareness of the process of becoming, is very valuable to share with others. It is our gift to share our struggle to heal others as we heal ourselves.

Many of the women I talk to have lost touch with fun and adventure that used to be what they really loved about themselves. Routines and responsibilities have taken the place of trying new things, and the magic of creating spontaneously.

I invite you to share a memory with like-minded souls that you will talk about forever! By being in a remote area and leaving behind daily routines, you will be able to go more deeply within yourself and see more clearly.
