Kimberly: Welcome everybody, welcome to Spiritual Biz Chat for Spiritual Biz Magazine, I am your host, Kimberly Maska, and today we have joining us, Matshona Dhliwayo, a Canadian based philosopher and entrepreneur who has just released his new book, The Art of Winning. Matshona, welcome and thank you for being with us, how are you doing today?

Matshona: I’m doing great.  Your work is outstanding.  Always a pleasure to connect with you.

Kimberly: Fantastic! So, could you share the story behind your personal journey down the path to your current life’s purpose and work, and tell us more about your business?

Matshona: In my youth, I would journey to the rural areas each time life confounded me and sit before my grandfather, the first sage I ever met, and take in all of the nuggets of wisdom he would impart to me.  Now an adult, I felt I would be doing the world a disservice if I didn’t pass on that knowledge to the world.  So, I decided to write books, knowing I could reach more people around the world than if I went around giving speeches.  My company specializes in creating and distributing wisdom literature.

Kimberly: What was the turning point in taking the steps to make your passion a business? And how have you managed to turn that into a business?

Matshona: I gave away lots of free stuff, I posted my book excerpts and quotations on Google Plus and started earning a little over 1 million views a month. Valuable free advertising which also earned me endorsements from luminaries all around the world.

Kimberly: Let’s talk a bit about “The Art of Winning” – your new book that just came out. What is this book about and who is it for?

Matshona: The book is for anyone who wants to win in life.  It’s about learning to believe in yourself and the gifts that the Creator gave you.  It’s about learning to turn failures into lessons, obstacles into opportunities, tragedies into triumphs, and turning dreams into reality.

Kimberly: And is it right that you are planning to donate 50% of this book sale profits to orphanages back home in Zimbabwe?

Matshona: Yes. And if I sell a tonne, I’ll even donate more. The situation back home is dire; I just had to do something.

Kimberly: Being a published author, do you prefer to self-publish your books or do you like the traditional publishing route? And why have you picked one route over the other?

Matshona: I have no problem with either route.  My advice to anyone is to pick the route which best suits your needs.

Kimberly: What kind of advice can you give to someone who’s about to write a book, wants to write a book, or has just written a book? What should be they aware of?

Matshona: Write what you love, write what you know.  Write from the heart, edit from the head.  Persevere, persevere, persevere!

Kimberly: Is there a final message you want to let the audience know? Or just any last little words that you have for them?

Matshona: Don’t let the noise of mediocre people drown out the symphonies of your genius.  And when the elevator to your dreams is broken, take the stairs.

Kimberly: If our readers wanted to reach you, where can they find you? And where can they find your books?

Matshona: They can email me at opinion@matshonadhliwayo.comThe Art of Winning can be purchased on Amazon.

Kimberly: Thank you, Matshona, very much! It has been such a pleasure chatting with you today and learning about your work.

Matshona: Thank you for the opportunity, Kimberly.
